A few ways to make your home more pet friendly

make your home more pet friendly

Transform your home into a ‘pawpurrfect’ sanctuary for your four-legged friends by keeping these things in mind:

Think carefully about the fabrics you choose. Consider going with faux leather or ultrasuede upholstery. Use stain-resistant, washable fabrics on the furniture (like your bed and couch). Place a blanket over the sofa and any accent chairs to help catch fur and prevent nails from scratching the surface.

Select flooring that is easy to clean. Porcelain or ceramic tiles are the most pet-friendly. Washable and indoor/outdoor rugs are a good option over hard surface floors. Carpet isn’t the best choice for pet owners but if you must use carpet, choose a color that matches your pet’s fur.

Create space to play, inside and outside. Be cautious with plants. Make sure they are safe and out of reach. Add a pet bed that matches the rest of your room’s decor and is comfortable for your four-legged friend. Create barriers around areas you do not want your pets having access to. Install a fence and add a watering station so they always have access to clean water.

Add a mud room near an entry, to wash your pup before they enter your home. Store leashes, dog treats, brushes, and other essentials in this area. Regular brushing and bathing will keep your home cleaner.
