Helping First Responders During COVID-19

Rooted’s Shante Johnson is the surviving spouse of Sergeant Derek Johnson, end of watch September 1, 2013. She is joined by Lieutenant Pat Evans from the Draper Police Department to discuss how we can help our local first responders and keep them safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first thing we can do is follow the Governor’s guidelines to stay at home, stay healthy, and maintain a safe social distance from those around us.

If you are looking to donate goods like hand sanitizer, gloves, or clorox wipes to your local police department, check out their social media page or contact them directly to see how you can safely deliver those goods to them.

Now is not the time to deliver homemade treats to your local police department. Instead, consider going to your local police department’s social media pages and leaving positive messages for them to read. Or wave at police officers from a safe distance to let them know you appreciate them. Little things like this go a long way helping our first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
